Leda is an enthusiastic ecologist fascinated with the marine environment. From a young age she was drawn to the sea and what lies beneath it, which led her to learn to scuba dive and later to study marine biology.
During the summers of her undergraduate degree, she volunteered at the Oceanography Centre of the University of Cyprus. After completing her Master’s degree she enrolled for a PhD at the University of York, UK.
Her PhD focused on natural and realigned (man-made) saltmarshes, by examining physiochemical and plant biodiversity variances of different ages of saltmarshes on the south-east coast of the UK. She received additional funding to complete her research from the Radhika V. Sreedhar Scholarship Fund, Department of Biology, University of York.
Leda owns five scuba diving certificates (PADI – Open Water, Advance Open Water, Rescue Diver, Enriched Air, and Dry Suit), as well as first aid qualifications from St. John Ambulance UK and the Royal Life Saving Society UK.
