We are excited to announce the kick-off of our five-year marine litter monitoring program in the Republic of Cyprus. This project marks a significant step forward in our commitment to preserving marine ecosystems and advancing the scientific understanding of marine litter impacts.
On 28/12/2023, we conducted our kick-off meeting, during which we established the targets and goals for the upcoming years. Our project, implemented in partnership with the University of Patras (Greece) and supported by the local authority (Department of Fisheries and Marine Research), aims to comprehensively monitor and analyze marine litter across various coastal regions of Cyprus. By employing state-of-the-art techniques and collaborating with local communities, we will provide robust data to inform and influence environmental policy, particularly supporting the provisions of Descriptor 10 of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD).
