George holds a BSc in Marine Biology (University of Portsmouth, UK) and an MSc in Integrated Coastal Zone Management (Aegean University, Greece). He is also a certified free and scuba diver (Open Water-PADI, Advanced Open Water- PADI, Dry Suit specialty – PADI, Scientific diving skills- PADI, Free diving first level international certificate)
During his undergraduate program, he volunteered in Archelon, the sea turtle Protection society of Greece, monitoring, collecting data and protecting the nesting sites of Zakynthos Island. While in Zakynthos he was also trained as a night survey leader, approaching nesting turtle, placing bit tag/metal tag on flipper and checking turtles for injuries. Furthermore, he also volunteered in the Cyprus Marine Aquaculture Research Centre (CyMARC) assisting researchers and taking care of injured sea turtles.
During his Master’s degree with the Aegean University, he examined the effects of vitamin C levels in gilthead seabream (Sparus Aurata) fingerlings in collaboration with CyMARC.
He is passionate about marine-life and its conservation, wholeheartedly embracing environmental consciousness particularly on matters such as ecology, biodiversity, global-warming and pollution.
